Career

There is perhaps no other career that spans so many areas as  Engineering.

Check out the many and varied ways the work of engineers is making a difference in all our lives.

Engineering contains a large number of job opportunities and specialties. We’ve selected a list of specialties below. With each specialty, we look at the definition and nature of the work, the specialties employment trends, possibly career advancement opportunities, and hope that it is helpful for you in determining whether or not the career is right for you.

CAREER DETAILS:

COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGG.

Software engineering is a fast-growing occupation with a high salary potential. Software developers are the creative minds behind computer programs. From computer operating systems to video games, many of the products we rely upon today are supported by software. Software engineers specialize in either computer software applications or computer software systems. They analyze users’ needs and then design, test, and develop software by applying the theories and principles of computer science and mathematical analysis. Computers and information technology play a prominent role in our daily lives and in the business world, so there is a constant need to develop new software.

ELECTRICAL ENGG.

As an electrical engineer, you could develop components for some of the most fun things in our lives (MP3 players, digital cameras, or roller coasters) as well as the most essential (medical tests or communications systems). This largest field of engineering encompasses the macro (huge power grids that light up cities, for example) as well as the micro (including a device smaller than a millimeter that tells a car’s airbags when to inflate). As an electrical engineer, you might work on robotics, computer networks, wireless communications, or medical imaging—areas that are at the very forefront of technological innovation.

MECHANICAL ENG.

As a mechanical engineer, you might develop a bike lock or an aircraft carrier, a child’s toy or a hybrid car engine, a wheelchair or a sailboat—in other words, just about anything you can think of that involves a mechanical process, whether it’s a cool, cutting-edge product or a life-saving medical device. Mechanical engineers are often referred to as the general practitioners of the engineering profession, since they work in nearly every area of technology, from aerospace and automotive to computers and biotechnology.

CIVIL ENGG.

What would it feel like to have the expertise to build a school that could withstand an earthquake, a road system that puts an end to chronic traffic jams, or a sports stadium that offers everyone a great view? As a civil engineer, your job would be to oversee the construction of the buildings and infrastructure that make up our world: highways, skyscrapers, railways, bridges, and water reservoirs, as well as some of the most spectacular and high-profile of all engineering feats—think of the world’s tallest building, the towering Burj Kahlifa in Dubai, or the Tunnel, the 31-mile-long tunnel beneath the English Channel. Civil engineers are fond of saying that it’s architects who put designs on paper, but engineers who actually get things built.

AUTOMOBILE ENGG.

Automobile engineering is also called vehicle engineering, one of the most challenging fields in engineering but at the same time it has more growth opportunity worldwide. Automobile engineering has another name which is termed as automotive engineering which deals with designing, manufacturing, developing, testing and maintenance of the automobiles. Automobile Engineers are classified into three streams namely Product or Design Engineering, Development Engineering and last but not the least Manufacturing Engineering. It combines different engineering methods such as electrical, safety, software, mechanical and so on to provide a better maintenance and services for your vehicles. This field requires lots of hard work and dedication to learn the profession and to achieve the success. Engineers in this field deals with creation, design, service, and manufacture of different vehicles which works efficiently and produce good result to satisfy the customers.

ELECRTONICS  &  TELECOMMUNICATION ENGG.

Electronics and Communication engineering is one of the old and the best course in the field of engineering. One of the broad engineering fields, Electronics and Communication involves the transmission of information across channels like coax cable or optical fiber. It also deals with designing equipments such as routers, switches, fiber optics and electronic switching systems. In a nutshell, this branch of engineering deals with electronic devices and software interfaces.Telecommunication Engineering is a discipline of Electronic Engineering and is concerned with all kinds of information and transmission networks. It is involved in designing, manufacturing and operation of telecommunication devices. In simple words, it is an exchange of information over a distance through electronic means and it mainly deals with the satellite communications, cables radio, radar, TV etc. Telecommunication engineers are mainly concerned with establishing communication by means of telegraphs, radar, radio, telephones, tele printers etc.
