The pumping of water is a basic and practical technique. This is true whether the water is drawn from a fresh source (like Pond, river, Well or Bore well), moved to a needed location, purified, or used for irrigation, washing. For food preservation solar thermal Drying (Dehydration) method is used. Drying removes the moisture from the vegetables so that bacteria, yeasts and molds cannot grow and spoil the vegetables. Drying preserves the vitamin, mineral, protein, and fiber content of foods without hampering the taste and aroma of the product. Solar thermal Drying also enhances the life of the product without any use of food preservatives.

Renewable energy  comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlightwindraintideswaves, and geothermal heat . Most common renewable energy source available everywhere abundantly is solar energy. Solar power is anticipated to become the world's largest source of electricity by 2050.

The Hybrid Solar PV (Photovoltaic) operated water pumping and solar thermal drying system will solve water pumping and thermal drying needs easily. This hybrid system will reduce the farmer’s efforts and expenditures. A Solar PV water pumping system will lift the water from required depth by using the DC motor pump. The blower will induce the air from the backside of panel, which will be used for the indirect drying of the agricultural products. This induced air by the blower will also decrease the temperature of the panel resulting in increased panel output efficiency.
